The teams you create from the "Edit" screen do not apply to Brave Battles.

To create Brave Battles teams, go to Vs Battle > Prepare for Battle and then tap the tab for the team you wish to edit.

From the team tab, tap the "Slot 1", "Slot 2", and "Slot 3" buttons underneath the team slots to set a character in a slot and edit the character's Accessories and Character Links.
